At the first Ministerial Conference of the International Organization for the Russian Language (IORL) held in Moscow, the Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, noted that the Russian language has become the foundation for the development of the republic.
According to the minister, the language provides opportunities for growth and development. "Within the framework of the unified educational space of the IORL, we will be able to effectively promote and replicate the best practices of the Russian language," she added, as reported by TASS.
Kendirbaeva also emphasized that the study of the Russian language contributes to strengthening interstate relations and will serve as the basis for educational diplomacy between Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. She supported the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to create the IORL, which aims to develop the Russian language, create educational materials, and train teachers and scholars.
The minister expressed Kyrgyzstan's readiness to actively participate in the organization's activities and cooperate with other member states such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The idea of creating the IORL was voiced in December 2021 during negotiations between the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Russia, Vladimir Putin, receiving support from the leaders of the CIS countries. In October 2023, a corresponding agreement was signed in Bishkek.
The organization is open for any interested countries to join, including those that are not part of the CIS. The main goals of the IORL include strengthening the status of the Russian language as an official or working language in international and regional organizations, supporting quality education, and training qualified personnel in the field of the Russian language.
The Russian language will become the basis for developing educational diplomacy and exchanging successful practices among the participating countries.
