Today, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Foreign Minister Almaz Imangaziev reported that the People's Republic of China (PRC) has requested that Kyrgyzstan become the first country to establish a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens.

The response to this question was given during a discussion when Deputy Jumabek Salymbekov asked why countries such as Kazakhstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan already have visa-free access, while Kyrgyzstan has not yet reached such agreements.

According to Imangaziev, currently, Chinese citizens can only cross the border into Kyrgyzstan with visas. He clarified that the visa-free regime is currently only in place as a pilot project for residents of Hong Kong and Macau.

"The Chinese side insists that Kyrgyzstan be the first to introduce a visa-free regime for its citizens, after which they are ready to consider a similar step. However, we insist that both countries begin to act in this direction simultaneously," the deputy minister added.

Additionally, in response to a question about possible negotiations with the United States regarding the resumption of long-term visa issuance for Kyrgyz citizens, Imangaziev confirmed that such discussions are ongoing, but it will take time to achieve positive results.
