At today's meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Jumabek Salymbekov called on Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to abandon visa restrictions at the border.

He noted that the imposed restrictions have a negative impact on the lives of ordinary citizens of both countries. "Many residents of border areas run businesses and study at universities. Previously, residents of Korday sought medical assistance in Bishkek, as it was closer than Almaty. The new 90/180 system has created numerous difficulties for people. We must strive to abolish visa barriers," Salymbekov emphasized.

Deputy Foreign Minister Almaz Imangaziev added that negotiations with Kazakhstan regarding the possibility of abolishing the 90/180 regime have been ongoing since the beginning of 2023. However, according to him, Kazakhstan is not making concessions, and as a result, Kyrgyzstan has also been forced to introduce a similar regime for citizens of Kazakhstan, which will come into effect at the end of 2025.
