Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, expressed his intention to introduce allowances for all children under 16 years old at a recent meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.

This initiative was announced in response to comments made by Deputy Dastan Bekeshev, who noted that the recent decision to provide allowances for children under three years old received a positive response from the public. He also pointed out the difficulties many families face in trying to pay the ORT contributions, which range from 400 to 700 soms for two or three children, representing a significant financial burden. Bekeshev called for support for such families.

The President reminded everyone of the practice during Soviet times when allowances were provided to all children under 16, regardless of their families' financial status. "In the past, it didn't matter whether you were rich or poor. After gaining independence, we began to take economic realities into account and tried not to provide allowances to wealthy families, but to support those who truly need it," Japarov noted.

According to him, there is currently no possibility to immediately implement allowances for all children under 16, but the gradual implementation of this measure is planned.
