The Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy plans to introduce a state social order for regional newspapers that have transitioned to self-financing. This was announced by Deputy Minister Marat Tagaev during a parliamentary committee meeting.

Deputy Saltanat Abdyldaeva noted that many newspapers that started self-financing have found themselves in a difficult situation. She mentioned that employees are reaching out to her, as they are paid only about 5,000 soms.

In this regard, Abdyldaeva proposed conducting a monitoring of the state of local media and studying the working and living conditions of their employees.

Tagaev added that two years ago, local publications were transitioned to self-financing based on the results of a special study. "We understand their current situation and have decided to introduce a state social order. If newspapers have interesting projects, we are ready to help them," he emphasized.

The Cabinet of Ministers has created a new association "Information and Publishing House 'Kyrgyz Tuusu'"
Additionally, Tagaev reminded about the establishment of the state institution "Information and Publishing House 'Kyrgyz Tuusu'," which was formed by merging the publishing houses "Kyrgyz Tuusu" and "Slovo Kyrgyzstana," as well as the editorial offices of the magazines "Baichchekey" and "Ala-Too." According to him, all financial expenses and salaries of this association are fully covered by the state.

He also reported that a salary increase for cultural workers is expected in April, which, in turn, should positively impact the incomes of journalists at this institution.

It should be noted that in 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers transitioned 12 regional newspapers to self-financing.
