Trump characterized Mexico as the center of drug cartel activity in the Western Hemisphere. He noted that Mexican cartels play a key role in the violence and disorder in the region.
“These cartels are responsible for much of the violence and chaos, and we, as the US government, are ready to take all necessary measures to protect the country and its citizens,” he added.
“It is essential to completely destroy their influence, as the situation is worsening. These cartels effectively control Mexico,” Trump emphasized.
At the same time, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has repeatedly stated that she will not allow the US to conduct military operations on Mexican territory.
At a meeting with leaders of several Latin American countries in Florida, Trump said: “Today we announce the creation of a new coalition that will fight against criminal drug cartels.”
According to Trump, the participants in this initiative reached a consensus on the need to use the military to combat drug traffickers.
It is noteworthy that representatives from Colombia, Brazil, and Mexico were absent from the meeting. Trump reported that Claudia Sheinbaum refused to cooperate with the US on the issue of combating drug cartels.
