Rafael Grossi: There is no direct evidence of nuclear bomb development in Iran

In an interview with Al Arabiya, Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), noted that the agency currently has no information confirming that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. However, he expressed concerning worries about the restrictions faced by international inspectors at Iranian facilities.

According to Grossi, the situation appears contradictory: on one hand, there is no evidence of nuclear bomb development, while on the other hand, Iran has accumulated large stocks of uranium, the enrichment level of which is close to the requirements for weapon production. This, combined with the refusal to grant IAEA inspectors full access to several sites, complicates the agency's ability to officially confirm the exclusively peaceful nature of the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.

He emphasized that his reports on the Iranian dossier have always been consistent: as long as Tehran does not resolve all outstanding issues regarding guarantees and does not ensure full cooperation with the agency, doubts within the international community will persist.

Grossi's position aligns with recent statements from officials in Iran and Russia. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian previously emphasized that the creation of nuclear weapons is not the republic's goal. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also pointed to the lack of evidence supporting the military nature of Iran's developments. In the Russian Federation Council, accusations against Tehran were also described as unfounded, citing the absence of direct evidence.

Thus, at this moment, the IAEA confirms that there is no production of nuclear bombs, but insists on the need to restore full control to eliminate any potential risks in the future.
