According to the parliamentarian, the existing tariffs have not corresponded to the actual costs of water supply services for a long time. Due to a lack of funding, water utilities are unable to update their infrastructure, and water supply systems in some regions continue to deteriorate.
Tabyldy Muratbekov emphasized that the proposed tariff increase is "insignificant" and should not cause dissatisfaction among citizens. As an argument, he compared it to the prices of bottled water: one liter costs more than 25 soms, while even after the tariff increase, tap water will remain significantly more affordable.
The deputy believes that the increase in tariffs will allow for additional funds to be allocated for the repair and modernization of water supply networks, as well as ensure the stable operation of water supply systems in the cities and villages of the country.
The issue of raising water tariffs is being considered in the process of preparing amendments to legislation and reforming the water supply system. A final decision will be made after analyzing proposals from government agencies and the parliament.
