The deputy demands to check the legality of the shooting of stray animals in Bishkek
She pointed out that the municipal enterprise "Tazalyk" conducts the culling of stray animals, which costs the city budget between 4 to 7 million soms.
“This amount is a significant part of the city budget. Can't we direct these funds towards more humane measures, such as building shelters or sterilizing animals? Why do we continue to apply such cruel methods towards our smaller brothers? This is not only a moral issue but also a matter of educating the youth so that they do not become cruel to animals,” she noted.
Kozhokulova added that according to Article 163 of the Criminal Code, there is criminal liability for cruelty to animals.
“I believe that the city prosecutor should examine the legality of the actions of the municipal enterprise employees. Our city should be comfortable not only for people and cars but also for our little friends,” concluded Gulya Kozhokulova.
