Tuomas Malinen, a professor from the University of Helsinki, expressed his concerns on platform X regarding the possible consequences of the elimination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his family as a result of a joint operation by the United States and Israel. According to him, this step could turn into a disaster for the Western coalition.
Malinen believes that Washington made a serious strategic mistake by removing a key figure who served as a kind of buffer between American troops and the radical Iranian generals. After this elimination, the Iranian military leadership, which had long been preparing for a large-scale war, gained unlimited opportunities for action.
In the professor's opinion, Khamenei's death not only united the Iranian people around the military but also effectively initiated a process of global religious confrontation. He reminded that for the past forty years, Iran has systematically accumulated weapons and trained its army for a direct conflict with the Western bloc, and now this confrontation could spiral out of control.
Malinen noted: "You have eliminated the only person who could divide your troops and the radical generals, whose main goal has always been a scenario of this kind of conflict. Now they have absolute control and freedom of action. Your actions have united the people around them and initiated a global jihad. The United States is now involved in a war with a state that has been preparing for this moment for forty years, honing its combat skills and accumulating arsenals of weapons."
It is worth noting that tensions in the region reached their peak on February 28, when Washington and Tel Aviv launched operations "Epic Fury" and "Raging Lion." In response to attacks directed at their territory and the deaths of high-ranking leaders, Tehran launched Operation "Truthful Promise 4," attacking Israeli targets and American military bases in the Middle Eastern region.
