In Russia, a proposal has been made to introduce full confiscation of all property for corrupt officials.
At an expanded meeting of the agency's board, he emphasized the need to tighten criminal penalties for individuals who have committed corruption-related crimes.
“It is necessary to introduce complete confiscation of all property acquired through criminal means as a criminal punishment for corrupt officials,” he stated.
Aleksandr Bastrykin also noted that in 2025, 14,200 cases related to corruption were sent to court, of which 555 were committed by organized criminal groups.
“Among those accused of corruption-related crimes, 617 individuals had a special legal status. Cases against 308 deputies and heads of municipalities, 20 deputies of regional legislative assemblies, 58 heads of preliminary investigation bodies and investigators, as well as 13 prosecutors, have been submitted to the court,” he added.
