Russian border guards will no longer guard the Armenian-Turkish border
According to the latest news, Russian border guards have been withdrawn from the checkpoint "Akhurik," located on the border between Armenia and Turkey. The border is now guarded by soldiers of the National Security Service of Armenia. Previously, this section was under the control of the Border Management of the FSB of Russia in Armenia.
As noted in the report on the implementation of the Armenian government's program for 2025, since March 1 of last year, control at the "Margara" checkpoint has been fully carried out only by soldiers of the Border Troops of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia. Starting from the beginning of 2026, a similar situation will occur at the "Akhurik" checkpoint, which will also come under the full control of Armenian border guards.

It is noted that all active checkpoints on the state border of Armenia are under the full control of the National Security Service of the republic.
