Donald Trump stated that he does not rule out a "friendly takeover" of Cuba
According to him, the Cuban authorities are negotiating with the United States.
“They have serious problems. They are experiencing financial difficulties and are currently in a difficult position, but they still continue the dialogue with us. There is a possibility that ultimately we will see a friendly takeover of Cuba. I have heard about Cuba since childhood, and perhaps after many years we can do something really positive for the people,” Trump said at a meeting with journalists.
He also added that Cuba is a country with many problems, and that Secretary of State Marco Rubio is actively working on solving them.
It should be noted that earlier, under pressure from the U.S. administration, Venezuela stopped supplying petroleum products to Cuba, which led to a crisis in air travel and a significant reduction in tourism programs.
