On February 26, a meeting took place in London between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Yvette Cooper. This information was announced by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
During the negotiations, issues regarding the state and future directions of bilateral and multilateral cooperation were discussed. Both sides expressed their desire to deepen relations, including in the areas of political dialogue, trade-economic and investment interaction, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties. The ministers agreed on the necessity of regular exchanges of delegations at the level of parliaments and governments.
Kulubaev also noted the positive results of joint work, mentioning significant initiatives such as the construction of a cement materials plant in Kyrgyzstan by the British company "United Concrete Canvas," as well as the provision of a credit line for investment projects from the UK Export Finance Agency. Important topics included cooperation with British financial institutions regarding sovereign credit ratings and access to international financial markets in London, the implementation of English law in the Kyrgyz Republic, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of critically important mineral resources, and the implementation of a seasonal workers program for citizens of the country.
However, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed concern regarding unilateral restrictive measures that could negatively affect the development of trade and financial ties between the two countries. He called for a more balanced and constructive approach, emphasizing the Kyrgyz side's readiness for open and mutually beneficial dialogue.
The ministers also discussed international and regional issues, as well as cooperation within various international organizations and regional associations.
