At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova expressed the need to develop organic agriculture at the state level.

She emphasized that the transition to organic farming could significantly increase the export of environmentally friendly products, as well as contribute to regional development and reduce external migration.

“At the end of September, the republic celebrated Organic Day for the first time. If we continue to use mineral fertilizers and agrochemicals uncontrollably, it may lead to soil degradation and the transformation of fertile lands into lifeless deserts. This is unacceptable for us. We have no right to leave a desert for our future generations,” Mavlyanova said.

The deputy proposed to start developing the organic sector on unused rain-fed lands.

“There are 615 thousand hectares of rain-fed lands in the country that have not been treated with chemicals. These lands should be allocated for organic farming. The use of drip irrigation will help effectively utilize limited water resources and increase yields without the use of chemical means,” she added.

Mavlyanova called for attention to the experience of developed countries that actively promote organic production. “We can also enter the international market with our high-quality products and develop agritourism, as well as ethno- and gastronomic tourism,” the deputy concluded.
