A meeting was recently held under the chairmanship of Adylbek Kasymaliev, the head of the government of Kyrgyzstan, dedicated to the preparation for the Five-Year Action Plan for the Development of Mountain Regions for 2023–2027.
At the meeting, he noted that the initiative to address global issues in mountainous areas belongs to President Sadyr Japarov and has received support from the UN.
“Kyrgyzstan, as the initiator of this global approach, should set an example for other countries in the field of sustainable mountain development,” emphasized the Prime Minister.
However, during the implementation of the internal Roadmap, problems arose: the performance of several departments was assessed as unsatisfactory in terms of reporting preparation.

In this regard, Kasymaliev instructed to punish those officials who caused delays in deadlines.

Additionally, the meeting approved an action plan for the implementation of the roadmap for 2026. Heads of state bodies were tasked with intensifying work on the comprehensive assessment of mountainous areas.
By 2027, the authorities plan to achieve significant results in remote areas by improving water supply, communication, and education, as well as creating new sources of income.
The results of the work will be presented at the second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25," scheduled for October 21–23, 2027.
