At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 25, deputy Gulya Kozhokulova raised the issue of the need to change the approach of Bishkek's mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, to city management.

She noted that the mayor has a large team consisting of five deputies and four akims, yet the number of complaints from the capital's residents has not decreased.

“Transportation problems persist: it does not follow the schedule, and the state of public transport remains at the level of minibuses. Additionally, there are complaints about the preservation of cultural heritage and unregulated construction. Even the recent incident at TSUM showed that the mayor was unaware of what was happening, although residents were discussing it on social media. How can we allow such situations? The lack of control and chaotic construction are pressing issues. Bishkek is extremely lacking in social facilities. The courtyards have broken asphalt, and the akims do not attend meetings with the population, relying only on house committees and neighborhood leaders. The mayor and his team need to interact more closely with the citizens. If the mayor's office does not change its approach, it will lead to problems,” Kozhokulova emphasized.
