Today, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Gulya Kozhokulova expressed her concern regarding the current work of the Bishkek city hall, calling for the need for its reform.

According to the deputy, despite having a large team, Mayor Aibek Junushaliev is failing to address the pressing issues of the city.

“Residents have numerous justified complaints. For example, in the area of public transport, people complain about dirty buses that do not adhere to schedules and behave like marshrutkas. This creates dangerous conditions for passengers,” she noted.

Kozhokulova also raised the issue of the need for rational use of municipal property, emphasizing that there is chaotic construction in the city. In particular, she mentioned a recent scandal related to construction near the Central Department Store, expressing bewilderment at the mayor's weak explanation, who claimed to be unaware of what was happening. “How is it possible that the mayor is not aware when everyone else knew?” the deputy rhetorically asked.

Additionally, she pointed out problems related to the preservation of the cultural and architectural heritage of the capital.

Kozhokulova also drew attention to the poor condition of roads in neighborhoods, where broken asphalt poses a threat to the lives and health of residents.

“When citizens try to convey their problems to the city authorities, they encounter the unwillingness of akims to meet with them. The main problem lies in the lack of communication between the city hall and the population. It is urgent to change the approach to the work of the municipality; otherwise, all these problems will remain unresolved,” she concluded.
