In 2025, Kyrgyzstan recorded 8,555 cases of acute viral hepatitis, which is significantly lower than the figure for 2024, when it was 21,195 cases. Deputy Minister of Health Bakytbek Kadyraliev reported this at a meeting of the committee on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues of the Jogorku Kenesh, emphasizing a 2.4-fold decrease in morbidity.

According to official statistics, the cases of the disease were distributed as follows: hepatitis A — 8,415 cases, hepatitis B — 75, hepatitis C — 56, and hepatitis D — 9.

As of January 1, 2026, the total number of citizens who underwent liver transplantation amounted to 578 people.

Kadyraliev noted that viral hepatitis poses a serious threat that can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer, thereby creating a significant burden on the country's healthcare system.

He also reminded that vaccination against hepatitis B has been included in the National Immunization Calendar of the Kyrgyz Republic since 2002, which has allowed for a 145-fold reduction in morbidity among children. Vaccination for adults began in 2022, and to date, more than 312,000 people have received the first dose of the vaccine.
