On February 23, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, made a high-level statement at the Conference on Disarmament taking place at the UN building in Geneva. This marked Kyrgyzstan's first experience participating in this event.

During his speech, he noted that the global security system is currently undergoing significant changes. He pointed to the increasing distrust between states, the weakening of existing agreements, and the rapid development of military technologies that outpace existing norms of international law.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of nuclear-weapon-free zones, highlighting them as a key tool for building trust and reducing global threats. In this regard, he presented Kyrgyzstan's initiative, which is a depositary and one of the founders of the Treaty on a Central Asian Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone, aimed at improving the institutional structure of this treaty and expanding cooperation with the UN.
