Four citizens of Kyrgyzstan are serving sentences in Italy. This was reported by Umutkan Konkubayeva, the Deputy Attorney General of the country, during a meeting of the committee on international affairs, defense, security, and migration, where a draft agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between Kyrgyzstan and Italy was discussed.

According to Konkubayeva, official data indicates that approximately 2,800 citizens of Kyrgyzstan reside in Italy.

She also specified that, according to consular data, this number could reach 5,000. The consulate has registered 1,552 individuals, of whom about 500 are studying at Italian higher educational institutions.

The Deputy Attorney General noted that four Kyrgyz citizens are in Italian prisons for organizing illegal migration.

"In addition, measures are being taken for the extradition of one citizen. The signing of this agreement will improve legal assistance in criminal matters between our countries," she added.

As a result of the discussion, the deputies supported the draft agreement.
