At a recent meeting of the committee on agrarian policy, water resources, ecology, and environmental protection of the Jogorku Kenesh, the First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, announced an initiative to allocate 200,000 hectares of unused land for cultivation by migrants.

He noted that as part of the conducted audit, it was established that there are 614,000 hectares of unused land across the country.

“We are ready to allocate 200,000 hectares for agricultural needs. This initiative is created with the aim of generating new jobs and supporting labor migrants. We will provide water supply and electrification to the plots, and migrants will be able to invest in fencing their lands and purchasing equipment for drip or sprinkler irrigation, starting to engage in agriculture. Applications from interested parties have already started to come in,” added Zhanibek Kerimaliev.
