In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, a festive event was held in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation. The event was attended by diplomats, military personnel, veterans, representatives of public organizations, and numerous guests. As part of the evening, a concert program was prepared, including musical and dance performances, which contributed to an atmosphere of respect for military duty and shared historical memory.
Sergey Vakunov, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Russia to Kyrgyzstan, noted in an interview with the publication VB.KG that this event has become a tradition and is held annually.
“We organize this event every year in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day. Judging by the reactions of the guests and the number of people who came, it can be said that this holiday generates great interest and respect among our friends from the Kyrgyz Republic,” Vakunov noted.
According to him, this respect is connected to a shared history, including the joint victory in the Great Patriotic War. In both countries, the title of defender of the fatherland holds great significance and is considered honorable.
The ambassador also recalled the famous phrase from the film "Officers": “There is such a profession - to defend the Motherland!” and emphasized that this calling is also highly valued here, and many gladly come to celebrate this important holiday for everyone,” he added.
