In an interview with a correspondent from VB.KG, Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov, the new head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), stated that the national security agencies of Kyrgyzstan should be independent from the influence of political parties and ideologies.
He emphasized that a key aspect of the reform will be a focus on professionalism rather than political allegiance. Shabdanbekov also mentioned that the committee plans to eliminate appointments based on regional principles.
“We are moving from geographical dependence to a model based on competencies,” he noted, adding that this is necessary for the formation of a mature state mechanism.
