“Fish farmers are expressing concern. They are calling and claiming that the import of feed from abroad is banned. Is this true?” — he asked government representatives.
A government representative responded that there is no complete ban on the import of feed.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kerimaliev confirmed that such appeals had indeed been received, but stressed that no ban on the import of feed had been introduced.
He also added:
- the import of feed was previously subject to a zero rate;
- as of February 12, tariffs were returned to previous conditions to support local producers;
- the import of feed remains available.
“Import is not banned. We support domestic producers, however, access to imported feed will not be restricted,” emphasized Zhanibek Kerimaliev.
During the discussion, concerns arose that some interested parties might promote initiatives that could lead to market monopolization.
“This is a young and developing sector. Monopolies are unacceptable here,” the deputies noted.
The Ministry of Agriculture assured parliament members that additional clarifications would be provided to industry associations, and the situation would remain under control.
