Akayev noted that he was elected as a deputy relatively recently, and he was surprised when colleagues informed him about the proposal for his candidacy. "It was unexpected for me, as we had just started our work in parliament," he admitted. After a series of discussions with the president, the mayor received an offer to take the post in Osh, which was motivated by the need to attract young and energetic personnel.
Budget and Completion of Projects
According to the new mayor, the majority of the budget will be directed towards financing already initiated projects that require significant investments. "A large portion of the funds will go towards completing current initiatives started by the previous mayor, Jenishbek Toktorbaev," he added, emphasizing the need to seek additional sources of funding from the republican budget.
Investments and Business Support
Janar Akayev also addressed the issue of declining investment volumes in the city and urged entrepreneurs not to be afraid to invest their funds in Osh. He noted that the government must resolve issues with debts and called on businessmen to participate in public-private partnerships (PPP), guaranteeing the protection of their interests.
Legacy of the Previous Mayor
Speaking about the work of his predecessor, Akayev expressed respect for Toktorbaev, noting that his efforts were highly appreciated by the citizens. "He really worked tirelessly, and taking his place is not an easy task," the mayor added.
Response to Criticism
Criticism regarding his lack of experience in executive power did not go unnoticed. Akayev stated: "I know what they say: 'Janar Akayev has been in the Jogorku Kenesh for 10 years, but has not worked in executive power.' I will try to prove my competence through actions. Time will tell."
First Impressions and Work Schedule
The new mayor shared his feelings upon entering the office. "I see that after a good renovation, Toktorbaev could have continued working here, but now I feel the weight of responsibility," he noted. Akayev spoke about his routine and emphasized that he intends to work actively, although he does not promise to conduct morning city inspections. "I will regularly inspect the city, but I don't know if we will film it," the mayor added.
