He noted that discussions lasted for two days and covered various formats, concluding with approximately two hours of negotiations on the last day. "These were tough but businesslike negotiations," Medinsky added.
Additionally, an assistant to the President of Russia reported that a new round of discussions will take place soon.
Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, briefly commented on the results of the negotiations. He indicated that the delegations discussed security aspects and mechanisms for implementing possible solutions, with some issues clarified while others require further coordination.
“Progress has been made, but at this stage we cannot disclose details. The next step is to reach the necessary level of consensus to present the developed solutions for consideration by the presidents. Our goal is to create a practical basis for this, rather than just a formal one,” Umerov noted.
Among the participants in the negotiations were also U.S. Special Representative Stephen Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Witkoff reported that Russia and Ukraine have made "significant progress" and agreed to inform their leaders about the results achieved while continuing work on a peace agreement.
