
Headed by Giuseppina Princi, Chair of the Delegation for Relations with Central Asian Countries, a group of Members of the European Parliament visited the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov. The press service of the President reported that the main focus of the meeting was on the prospects for further cooperation.
The delegation included members from various countries: Giuseppina Princi (Italy), Sven Simon (Germany), Thierry Mariani (France), Antonin Stanek (Czech Republic), Christian Vigenin (Bulgaria), Tomas Frelih (Germany), Chiara Gemma (Italy), and Jussi Saramo (Finland).
The parties discussed a number of issues related to strengthening relations between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union. In particular, emphasis was placed on the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the protection of human rights, and the provision of freedom of speech.
President Japarov emphasized that cooperation with the European Union is one of the priorities of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy and expressed readiness to further strengthen these relations.
He also noted the significance of holding the next meeting of the inter-parliamentary cooperation committee with the European Parliament, emphasizing its role as an important mechanism for productive dialogue.
“Inter-parliamentary cooperation is of particular importance to us, as it is an effective way of open exchange of views on key issues of internal and external development,” the president stated.
Giuseppina Princi, in turn, expressed gratitude to the president for the warm welcome and the opportunity to discuss pressing issues.
She noted the gradual development of relations between the European Union and Kyrgyzstan.
The European Parliament delegates highlighted the successes achieved by the Kyrgyz Republic and the positive changes over the past years, noting stable growth in socio-economic development and efforts in modernizing public administration.
Members of the delegation confirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue. They also emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in the educational sphere, especially through student exchange programs and creating new opportunities for youth professional growth.
As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed interest in further developing cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union in the most relevant areas for both sides.
President Sadyr Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan is always open to cooperation and considers this meeting an important step towards strengthening sustainable dialogue with the European Union.
