In the third reading, the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dealing with international affairs, defense, and migration approved the bill "On the Ratification of the Extradition Treaty between Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia," signed on July 21, 2025, in Bishkek.

This bill establishes the legal framework for the extradition of individuals who are wanted for criminal prosecution or the enforcement of judicial decisions. After ratification, this agreement will allow Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia to begin official procedures for the extradition and transfer of convicted individuals as part of international cooperation.

It is worth noting that there are currently two citizens of Mongolia in correctional facilities in Kyrgyzstan, while Kyrgyz citizens are not represented in prisons in Mongolia. Nevertheless, requests for the extradition of convicted individuals are coming from this country, highlighting the need to create an appropriate legal framework for exchange.
