The dates for the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan in 2026 are being discussed between Moscow and Astana. This was reported by the Russian ambassador to Kazakhstan, Alexey Borodavkin.

According to him, the visit is planned for May.

“Regular exchanges of visits have become part of our practice. We are currently coordinating specific dates and discussing the content of the upcoming negotiations,” he noted, adding that Putin's visit to Kazakhstan will be a “significant event” in the history of bilateral relations.

At the end of May 2026, a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (EAEU) will take place in Astana with the participation of heads of state, where Vladimir Putin is expected to attend.

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited Russia on a state visit in November 2025. During his visit, he invited the President of Russia to come to Kazakhstan again in 2026, emphasizing that “the protocol is important, but so is the essence of the meetings.”
