Sergey Vakunov, the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Kyrgyzstan, shared information about the future of the airbase "Kant".
He noted that there is no need to expand the base's capabilities.
The diplomat added: "According to experts, the current working conditions of the airbase are quite sufficient to ensure the security of the member countries of the organization from the southern direction."
It should be noted that the airbase was established in Kyrgyzstan in 2001 in response to a request from the local leadership related to the threats of international terrorism.
