Elvira Surabaldiyeva, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, commented on the election of the new speaker and recent changes in the country’s personnel.
- Elvira Zhyrgalbekovna, what is your opinion on the change of leadership in the parliament?
- Today we elected a new speaker, who was nominated by two out of five factions. I just returned from a business trip and came to the session when the candidacy had already been approved. Marlen Mamataliyev has become one of the youngest speakers in recent times, and I am pleased that he represents my constituency. He promised to invest all his energy into his work.
- Many on social media expected you to take this position. However, the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh stated that you preferred "freedom." Is that true?
- I think the answer was given correctly.
- How do you assess the resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev? There are many alarming rumors circulating in society.
- At the time of these events, I was abroad. I returned only yesterday late and attended the session for the first time today. I am just beginning to delve into current affairs, but I am confident that everything will ultimately resolve positively.
