Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastan Bekeshev discussed with VB.KG the current political situation both in the parliament and in the country as a whole, as well as revealed the reasons why traditional forecasts in Kyrgyz politics often turn out to be ineffective.
- Dastan Dalabaevich, considering the recent events, how do you see the further development of the situation? What is the situation in the country and within the walls of parliament?
- In our country and parliament, everything is relatively stable. The process of electing a speaker is going predictably: whatever candidate is proposed, that is the one the parliament supports. So there are no disturbances here.
As for forecasts, it is a thankless task due to the many uncertainties. There is a philosopher and economist named Nassim Taleb, who introduced the concept of a "black swan." He asserts that in trying to predict anything, we almost always fail. And I completely agree with him. In our country, it is especially difficult to make any predictions.
- Do you mean unexpected personnel changes?
- Yes, exactly. What happened on February 10 — who could have predicted that? Many thought that such events would occur in the lead-up to the presidential elections or after them. However, no one expected it to happen so quickly. Frankly speaking, the pace of events has been a surprise to everyone.
Therefore, making plans for tomorrow is pointless — only God knows. Tomorrow remains a mystery, the cards are not revealed to us. So we live for today.
