For the first time in nearly nine decades, the Gallup Institute is discontinuing its measurement of the approval rating of the U.S. president. This decision is driven by the organization's desire to adapt its research and analytical work to modern requirements. This was reported by a representative of the institute, as informed by Axios.

In the organization's statement, it is noted that leader ratings have been an important part of its history; however, the conditions under which this data is used have significantly changed.

The institute emphasizes that approval ratings of leadership are currently actively produced and interpreted by other sources, which deprives Gallup of the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution in this area.

The latest Gallup data showed that President Donald Trump's approval rating was 36% in December. When asked by Axios whether political pressure influenced this decision, institute representatives noted that this change is a "strategic shift based solely on Gallup's research goals and priorities."
