In Kyrgyzstan, there is a growth in citrus production. The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, announced this information at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.

According to him, by 2026, 22 nurseries will be ready to provide 15 million 37 thousand seedlings.

In the Batken and Kadamjai districts, new phytotechnologies are being implemented for growing citrus seedlings. As a result of this work, mandarins, lemons, oranges, and kumquats have emerged.

“In 2024, 4 thousand 839 tons of products were produced from 1 thousand 58 hectares, and in 2025, 7 thousand 149 tons of subtropical products were harvested from 1 thousand 56 hectares,” he added.

Torobaev also noted that this year, 69 thousand tons of grain seeds will be needed. Currently, 57 thousand tons have been procured, which is 82.5% of the required volume.

“As for seeds of oats, rice, tobacco, legumes, and soybeans, the sufficient amount is 100%. The missing volumes will be covered through subsidies and seeds provided by seed-growing farms,” he clarified.

In the Ak-Tala district of the Naryn region, an experiment was conducted on 20 hectares of rainfed land with the oilseed safflower variety "Yershovsky," resulting in 20 quintals per hectare. Additionally, the hybrid sorghum "Sudan" is actively spreading in various regions of the country, allowing for the collection of up to 100 tons of green mass per hectare, which significantly improves the feed base for livestock,” the official concluded.
