Today, at a press conference held as part of a joint meeting between the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu and the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş, support for Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council was announced.

During the event, the parliamentarians discussed the outcomes of their meeting and exchanged views on ways to strengthen cooperation in various areas, including politics, economics, and culture. Attention was also given to the activation of inter-parliamentary relations.

Turgunbek uulu noted that strengthening relations between Presidents Sadyr Japarov and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has laid the foundation for a new level of partnership. He emphasized that many agreements were signed in 2025, and now the parliaments of both countries should promptly ratify them.

The Speaker also focused on the need to increase trade turnover to $5 billion and invited representatives of Turkey to participate in the VI World Nomad Games, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in 2026.

For his part, Numan Kurtulmuş called Kyrgyzstan an important partner and confirmed that Turkey would support the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council in 2027-2028.
