Kyrill Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, noted that the meetings were held in a "truly constructive" manner.
The first stage of negotiations took place on January 23-24, and the second on February 4-5. Key figures in the U.S. delegation included special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of Donald Trump.
The Russian side was led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia.
Among the Ukrainian representatives was Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
Steve Witkoff characterized the meeting as productive, noting that as a result of "detailed and constructive peace negotiations," an agreement was reached on the exchange of prisoners of war. Russia and Ukraine agreed to return 314 prisoners of war.
"Despite the fact that there is much work ahead, such steps show that continuous diplomatic engagement yields real results and strengthens efforts aimed at ending the war in Ukraine," said the U.S. special envoy on his account on X.
Throughout the day, there were also reports about a possible extension of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, which expired on February 5. However, Donald Trump expressed the opinion the night before that Russia and the U.S. should develop a new agreement instead of attempting to extend the expired treaty.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the next negotiations between the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia will likely take place on American soil.
