The Queen of the Netherlands Became a Reservist in the Country's Armed Forces
In their comments, family members noted that the queen decided to contribute to the country's defense, realizing that security is becoming increasingly important and should not be taken for granted.
According to the publication NLTimes, reservists represent a flexible personnel resource for the armed forces, primarily engaged in emergency situations. However, it is not yet specified which branch of the military the queen will belong to.
Queen Maxima is 54 years old, and she has the opportunity to apply for service, as the upper age limit for part-time service in the Ministry of Defense is 55 years.
It is worth noting that the queen is not the first in her family to decide to undergo military training: Crown Princess Amalia recently successfully completed a course at Defensity College and received the rank of corporal. Following her enrollment, the number of new students at the college has doubled. The Dutch Ministry of Defense is currently actively recruiting, planning to increase the armed forces from 80,000 to 100,000 by 2030, with a long-term goal of reaching 200,000.
