At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the First Deputy Head of the Cabinet, Daniyar Amangeldiev, announced the government's intentions to switch the CHPP to gas within 1-2 years.

He noted that the modernization of the CHPP has been ongoing for several years.

“The process is not quick. At the moment, the CHPP is not ready from a technological standpoint, but we have plans for the transition. We are creating the necessary conditions and negotiating with Gazprom. As soon as all issues are resolved, we will implement the transition of the CHPP to gas,” he added.

It is worth noting that earlier, the Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, stated in his speech to parliament that the municipality, which owns the CHPP, has no plans to switch it to gas due to the potential sharp increase in heating tariffs.
