At the meeting on February 4, Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Kunduuzbek Suimanov criticized the reform that requires 10 months of training to obtain a driver's license.

He emphasized that his opinion reflects not only his personal views but also the opinions of voters who consider the duration too long.

“Every deputy represents not only themselves but also the voice of the people. We are obligated to convey their thoughts to the executive power. Extending the training period only exacerbates citizens' dissatisfaction. Those who propose such changes are moving in the wrong direction. If the people were against justified initiatives, we would explain their mistake,” noted Suimanov.

The deputy also urged to avoid accusations against parliamentarians that they criticize the authorities for personal gain, adding that the parliament always supports constructive proposals from the executive branch aimed at the country's development.

He suggested discussing with the authorities the possibility of reducing the training period to 3 or 6 months so that citizens could take exams and obtain licenses upon successful completion.

“If they pass the exam successfully, they should be issued a driver's license. Otherwise, they can continue their training,” proposed the deputy.

Earlier, other deputies also expressed criticism regarding the 10-month training, referring to numerous complaints from citizens.

After that, President Sadyr Japarov visited the State Center for Registration of Vehicles and Drivers, where during a meeting with citizens he stated that some politicians use the microphone to please their voters rather than to solve real problems.

It is worth noting that starting in 2026, changes will be introduced to the driver training system in the country: training in driving schools will come under state control, and the training period will be extended to 10 months. In this regard, law enforcement agencies detained the director of one of the private driving schools who opposed the innovations, accusing him of inciting mass unrest.
