In response to reports about the possible imposition of sanctions against Kyrgyzstan, the country's authorities have begun active consultations with the European Union. This statement was confirmed by the First Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev in an interview with "Azattyk".

He stated that an online meeting with David O'Sullivan, the EU Commissioner for Sanctions, is expected in the coming days. Amangeldiev emphasized that there is no official information regarding the imposition of sanctions against Kyrgyzstan, and that the rumors are based on materials from foreign publications that are not supported by evidence.

According to him, the country has already taken measures to restrict the export of dual-use goods, including weapons, which, in his opinion, excludes the possibility of sanction pressure from the EU. Moreover, he noted that potential recommendations from the EU may concern specific countries rather than Kyrgyzstan as such.

According to information from Bloomberg, on January 30, it was reported that the European Union is considering the possibility of imposing restrictive measures against Kyrgyzstan. This discussion is taking place within the framework of the twentieth package of EU sanctions aimed at Russia, which is related to the current situation in Ukraine and measures to prevent circumvention of the sanctions regime through third countries.

As reported by the agency, possible new restrictions may affect financial institutions, oil companies, as well as cryptocurrency services, which the EU believes may assist Russia in circumventing existing sanctions.
