At the meeting of the "Mekenchil" deputy group today, Mahabat Mavlyanova, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, raised an important issue regarding the illegal import of seedlings into Kyrgyzstan that do not undergo phytosanitary control.

She noted that the smuggling of planting material poses significant risks for the spread of pests and diseases. The deputy addressed a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, asking whether there is any control over this issue.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev responded that the ministry is taking measures to improve the situation, including increasing the number of nurseries.

“We have increased the number of nurseries recently, and our phytosanitary inspection is conducting checks at border posts,” he added.

Mavlyanova also emphasized that this problem is not limited to planting material but also affects the circulation of chemicals in the regions.

“Chemicals are sold in cities and villages without certificates. The information on the packaging is written in Chinese and lacks translation. At the same time, there is a shortage of qualified specialists in the regions,” she noted, suggesting that control be strengthened at the level of local authorities.
