The question concerns the fees for insurance and tinting for cars from Kyrgyzstan

During a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Dastan Bekeshev raised the issue of additional fees that are charged to Kyrgyz drivers when passing through Uzbekistan.

As Bekeshev noted, when traveling from one part of Kyrgyzstan to another through the territory of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz citizens are forced to purchase insurance and pay for tinting, while Uzbek drivers do not face similar requirements from Kyrgyz authorities.

This statement was responded to by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Almaz Imangaziev, who confirmed that the problem is known and is under discussion between the states. He added that the Kyrgyz side is already negotiating with Uzbekistan with the aim of abolishing these fees.

Imangaziev also reported that the Uzbek side is currently conducting internal procedures, and if the requirements are not canceled in the near future, Kyrgyzstan may introduce mirror measures, establishing similar fees for cars with Uzbek license plates upon entering its territory.
