Kokulov - Oruntaev: If I were you, I wouldn't smile like that
According to the agreement, financing of $50 million is provided at an interest rate of 1.5% for a term of 25 years with a five-year grace period. These funds will be directed towards the construction of five new schools and seven additional educational buildings in Bishkek, as well as two schools in the Chui region. The completion of construction is expected to take place in 2029.
During the discussion, deputies began to ask questions to the Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services, Nurdana Oruntaev, however, Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu urged them to focus solely on the bill. He added that the minister would be invited to a separate meeting to discuss other issues.
Erulan Kokulov expressed his opinion on the matter.
“Yes, esteemed speaker, you are right in your words. But when ministers are appointed, you say that there should be no questions for them. Now, however, you want us to speak only about the project. They do not come to us but address us in other ways. Here Nurdana Kemelovich is sitting and smiling. Why, for example, are the roofs of schools collapsing? In your place, I would not be smiling if I were entrusted with such issues! We are deputies representing the people. We are on one side, and they are on the other. That is how the system is arranged. We must ask questions, and they must answer. Otherwise, schools will continue to collapse. Of course, we must discuss the project, but you do not provide an alternative opportunity. I have also visited the committees, and the situation there is similar. Colleagues, I do not want to instruct you, but do not forget that we are representatives of the people,” the deputy emphasized.
