Legal services in Kyrgyzstan may become more expensive
Deputy Dastan Bekeshev noted that the changes will affect the poorest segments of the population
Deputy Dastan Bekeshev stated in his Telegram channel about a possible increase in the prices of legal services in Kyrgyzstan.
He reported that a corresponding legislative initiative is being discussed in parliament.
“The concept of ‘legal representative’ is being introduced. In court, you will be able to be represented by yourself, a close relative, a lawyer, or a legal representative. However, an ordinary citizen who has some understanding of the law will not be able to defend their interests in court independently, as a legal representative will only be someone who has a higher legal education, three years of work experience, and is registered with the bar. This will inevitably lead to an increase in the prices of legal services, which will particularly affect the poor and socially vulnerable groups of the population, while wealthier citizens will feel this impact to a lesser extent,” Bekeshev noted.
Additionally, he added that the changes will also affect the lawyers themselves. There will be increased control over their activities, and they will have to pay membership fees.
