Deputy Dastan Bekeshev warned in his Telegram channel about a possible sharp increase in taxi prices in Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, starting from February 1, 2026, all taxi services will have to transition to licensing under new regulations.
He noted that the lack of changes from the government could lead to many drivers losing their jobs. “Taxi prices may rise to 700-800 soms instead of the usual 200-300, as demand will significantly exceed supply. This will also lead to a decrease in tax revenues,” Bekeshev added.

Bekeshev also mentioned that people with disabilities, including the deaf, face difficulties in obtaining licenses, as ENT doctors refuse to provide the necessary stamps.
“Although such individuals can obtain driver's licenses and have already driven cars, the conditions for taxi licensing have become extremely complicated. I expect that many who are trying to earn a living will be dissatisfied. People with loans and migrants who have returned home and chosen to work in taxis are likely to be outraged. This sector is their only means of earning. I can't imagine what will happen to them next,” the parliamentarian noted.
According to him, only about 7,000 taxi drivers have received licenses, while there are approximately 60-70 thousand in the country, which will lead to a tenfold reduction in the number of working taxi drivers.
Earlier, Dastan Bekeshev proposed that the government postpone the licensing deadlines for taxis by six months.
