According to the latest data from the Global Firepower analytical center for 2026, the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan ranked 109th out of 145. This means that the country has lost four positions compared to the previous year. The assessment was based on more than 60 different criteria, including important factors such as defense budget, personnel strength, level of technical equipment, and logistics.

While Kyrgyzstan shows a decline, other Central Asian countries are demonstrating positive dynamics in strengthening their military capabilities. Uzbekistan ranked first in the region, rising five positions to 53rd place. Kazakhstan improved its position and now occupies 58th place, while Tajikistan reached 100th place. Turkmenistan is in 78th position. Thus, Kyrgyzstan is currently the country with the lowest military potential in the region.

Experts note that Kyrgyzstan's defense budget is approximately $221.8 million. With an army size of 23,000 servicemen and a mobilization reserve of 300,000 people, the condition of equipment remains an important factor affecting the final index. Analysts estimate the actual combat readiness of the country's armored and artillery units at an average level of 50 percent.

According to the Global Firepower ranking, the USA, Russia, and China continue to hold leading positions. Changes in the rankings for Central Asian countries reflect their ability to modernize their armed forces and implement new technologies. The decline in Kyrgyzstan's position against the backdrop of its neighbors' growth highlights the need for reforms in the country's defense sector.
