The Situation Around Ukraine. What Was the Outcome of Putin's Meeting with the US Delegation
Putin's assistant Yuri Ushakov shared the first comments on the results of the negotiations. According to him, the first meeting of the trilateral working group will take place today in Abu Dhabi, with representatives from Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine participating. Ushakov noted that the Russian delegation has already been formed, has received "specific instructions" from Putin, and will soon head to Abu Dhabi.
The delegation includes "representatives of the Ministry of Defense leadership," including the head of the GRU, Igor Kostyukov.
Additionally, a meeting is planned in Abu Dhabi between Witkoff and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, who lead the bilateral working group on economic issues.
Ushakov characterized the negotiations as "useful in every sense." He also emphasized that "Russia will continue to consistently pursue the goals of the special military operation until a political and diplomatic settlement is achieved." In conclusion, he added that at the meeting, Moscow reaffirmed that "without resolving the territorial issue, it is impossible to expect a long-term settlement."
