The accounting of foreign ownership has been conducted since 1992. The largest number of properties belongs to citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, and China. The main owners are former citizens of Kyrgyzstan and their families who inherited these properties.
However, there have been recent changes in this list.
Mouazzam Kandiyeva, chairwoman of the Realtors Committee at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kyrgyzstan, confirms the opinion of her colleagues. She emphasizes that the current situation in the real estate market is positive, facilitating both the purchase and sale of properties, which makes investments more attractive.
“The development of the tourism sector also significantly influences the increase in property purchases by foreigners. Acquiring land is undoubtedly an expensive endeavor, especially when it comes to construction. However, the secondary housing market remains relevant for investment, and many are taking advantage of this,” notes Kandiyeva.
