Trump added: “Today I will meet with President Zelensky. We need to come together and reach an agreement. If this does not happen, it will be foolish on their part. I am confident that they are not fools, but if the deal does not happen, it will indicate otherwise.”
He also emphasized that he does not intend to offend anyone, but the need for a peaceful agreement is obvious, as too many people are suffering. The U.S. president noted that he was “close enough” to resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
“I think we are close to ending the conflict,” he added.
Trump noted that both Russia and Ukraine are interested in achieving peace.
Additionally, he mentioned that when one side is ready for negotiations, the other side is usually not. He also pointed to the mutual animosity between the leaders of the two countries as a factor complicating the situation.
